A note from Bed Bug Central President Phil Cooper
About Bed Bug CentralBedBug Central serves as the nation’s most authoritative information resource and website available to the public for information concerning bed bugs and bed bug related issues concerning health, prevention, and treatment methods. Our company and website (www.bedbugcentral.com) was developed, in part by nationally regarded entomologist Richard Cooper, in response to the extensive incorrect information available to individuals faced with bed bug problems. In many cases, the information available on the internet is erroneous and can even lead to an exasperation of the infestation or health risks. He recently co-authored a book titled “Bed Bug Handbook: The Complete Guide to Bed Bugs and Their Control,” and he is a highly sought out speaker on bed bugs and other pest management topics. The veracity and strength of the information we present comes from our five staff entomologist that are either actively researching or developing and applying bed bug treatment protocols. This same approach is applied during the selection process of the products we choose to represent. The vision of BedBug Central has expanded since its 2007 inception and now includes a web series titled Bed Bug TV (http://tv.bedbugcentral.com/). The series is hosted by research entomologist Jeffry White, who has become the face of BedBug Central. In 2010, BedBug Central recruited 14 of the nation’s leading entomologists, bed bug experts and legal advisors for the first ever North American Bed Bug Summit titled “BedBug University: North American Summit.” In attendance at the Summit were governmental agencies such as the EPA, USDA, CDC and the Illinois Housing Authority. Also in attendance were property managers, pest management professionals, and a variety of private sector industries. Finally, to ensure that customers have access to qualified pest management firms are equipped with the resources and training needed to properly address bed bugs, we have created the bedbugFREE network. The bedbugFREE Network is a nationwide network of like-minded pest management firms that adhere to the philosophies and methods developed by BedBug Central researchers. These guidelines include using a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, of which EPA approved chemicals are a small portion.
