In response to New York’s increasing bed bug infestation, New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has recently appointed Richard Cooper of Cooper Pest Solutions and Bed Bug Central in Lawrenceville, NJ and Gil Bloom of Standard Pest Management in Astoria, NY to the New York City Bed Bug Advisory Board.

Other members of the board include Jody L. Gangloff-Kaufmann of the NY State Integrated Pest Management Program, Cornell University, Ray Lopez of Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service and Renee Corea of New York vs. Bed Bugs, a bed bug policy advocacy group.

“The Board is charged with, among other things, making specific recommendations to the Mayor and City Council for the prevention and treatment of bed bug infestations throughout the city.”  The advisory board, which has already undergone preliminary talks, is the byproduct of legislation approved by the New York City Council and signed by Mayor Bloomberg in March.
