This holiday season is quickly approaching and BedBug Central is seeking the help of fellow pest management firms across the U.S. to donate bed bug treatment and services to those in need.

Taking the Bite out of the Holidays, was created by research entomologist, Jeff White of Bed Bug Central, a free information resource to the public and pest professional concerning bed bugs and bed bug related issues and treatment methods.

The event began in 2009 with seven companies donating more than $40,000 in bed bug treatment services to those in need through. In 2010, the amount of participating companies nearly quadrupled. In 2010, 27 companies donated more than $300,000 worth of services across the nation for the annual holiday charity event.

White created the holiday charity after seeing first-hand how difficult it can be for non-profits and individuals in need to obtain effective bed bug services.

“Having dealt extensively with bed bugs, we know they can be very difficult and expensive to eliminate. We also understand there are many people out there that simply can’t afford effective treatment,” said White. “During the holiday season we wanted to give back to the community and provide some relief to those in need so that they could use their money to create a happier holiday without the frustration of bed bugs.”

In order to reach as many needy individuals and charities as possible, BedBug Central enlists the help of its bedbugFREE , a network of like-minded companies that agree with philosophies and treatment methods of BedBug Central. In addition, BedBug Central is seeking the help from additional pest management firms across the nation.

BedBug Central’s President and CEO, Phil Cooper, is thrilled that Taking the Bite out of the Holidays is expanding each year and aiding more individuals in need.

“It’s important for pest management organizations across the nation to come together and aid in this service. This year I hope we are able to help out all of the major metropolitan areas,” said Cooper. “There’s no better feeling than helping those in need.”
